Daniela Shiri Sookne struggled against Familial Dysautonomia for seventeen years, but along the way she lived a full and happy life. Everyday worries that bothered most people did not matter to her. She lived in the moment and found joy in the smallest things. She was a girl scout, and even went camping. She did ballet for seven years. She played T-Ball on Saturdays in the spring, and loved to swim in the summer. She went to Camp Simcha in New York for four years in a row.
She brightened the days of countless individuals, never seeming to need reciprocation, and changed attitudes about people with disabilities. She loved her family and adored her friends, and could never resist helping take care of babies. We will miss her endless smiles and hugs, and her good-natured feistiness and sense of humor. Her last gift was of organ donations which saved five lives. We will always remember her lovable nature, her strength and her desire to fight against adversity.
